Asbury Park Named Favorite Monmouth County Beach
NJ Sea Grant Consortium Annual Public Poll Garners Bragging Rights
Asbury Park has won the NJ Sea Grant Consortium’s Favorite Monmouth County Beach accolade for the second year in a row.
Celebrating its 10th year, the Sea Grant’s public poll garners thousands of voters each year, officials said. The survey was designed to encourage a little ‘friendly’ competition and camaraderie between popular Jersey Shore communities, resulting in bragging rights, officials have said.
While the State’s favorite beach winner won’t be announced until later this afternoon, organizers stopped by the city’s boardwalk Friday morning to make the Monmouth and Ocean County announcement via 94.3 the Point satellite radio station hub on the AP Boardwalk.
In Monmouth County, Asbury Park held its place by garnering the most votes, followed by Sandy Hook Gateway National Park, Spring Lake, Belmar and Long Branch, respectively.
Also unveiled were the top Ocean County winners: Seaside Heights, Beach Haven, Point Pleasant Beach, Ship Bottom, and Island Beach State Park, respectively.
