Asbury Park Night Bazaar Summer Series Returns
Musical Performances, Art, Vendors, Food, and special events on roster
Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend, the Asbury Park Night Bazaar organizers and the newly located The Market Asbury Park unite in offering three nights of music, art, food, shopping, and special events at the Grand Arcade in Asbury Park’s Convention Hall.
Running from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday May 27, June 3 and 10, patrons can expect a roster of artists, vendors, and creators selling vintage, art, handmade items, jewelry, crafts, home goods, furniture, and natural products.
Organizers say food and drink specials will run throughout the evenings at The Anchor’s Bend, Asbury Oyster Bar, and The Beach Bar.
“With an awesome line up of local vendors, DJs, and live bands, the Night Bazaar is the best place to enjoy your Friday night,” said Kate Devine, social media coordinator for the Asbury Park Bazaar. “They’re always a great time, and you’re doing good for the community by shopping locally made products from independent shop owners.
“These are the people who also give back to local organizations and charities,” Devine said. “Needless to say their small batch goods are unique and well made, the kind you won’t find anywhere else. The Night Bazaar truly highlights the creative character of Asbury Park.”
This year’s special events include partnerships with Asbury Park Surf Music Festival [APSMF] and Asbury Park Moto Club.
On May 27 the APSMF join in the Bonfire Beach Party celebration with featured performances by Gay Guy/Straight Guy and Yawn Mower. There’s also a birthday celebration for drummer Bob Paulos, DJ Sara M is slated to spin from 6 to 9 p.m., and DJ Michael Merrell keeps the dance party going outside on the Anchor’s Bend promenade.
Kicking off at noon, the surf music event also includes performances by St Petersburg’s Messer Chups, Asbury Park’s Black Flamingos, Arlington’s Atomic Mosquitos, Philadelphia’s The Primitive Finks, Slowey & The Boats, The Sharkskins, Cherry Hills’ Blue Wave Theory, Middletown’s Los Pocos Locos, Astoria’s TarantinosNYC, Rochester’s The Televisionaries, and Jersey City’s Bongo Surf.
On June 3, Aloha Friday incudes performances by the Black Flamingos and Bongo Surf and the night concluding with guest DJs: APSMF curators Vincent and Magdalena and AP Bazaar curators Jenny and Joe taking their turn spinning the turntable.
On June 10, the Asbury Park Moto Club social showcases their vintage and custom bikes and apparel while the Lyons and dollys perform. There’s also special guest DJ sets from gods and a DJ Master Blaster, with Michael and Tyler spinning 60s soul and funk.
