A joint investigation into the Saturday night shooting of a male gunshot victim located by Asbury Park Police Police is ongoing, according to a news statement from Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J.  Gramiccioni.

Police responded near 9:51 p.m. Saturday to reports that one of two victims sustained gunshot wounds near Myrtle and Stratford avenues. Moments later, Asbury Park Police officers located a male gunshot victim in close proximity to the shooting, according to the news release.

A collaborative investigation between the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Neptune Township and Asbury Park police departments revealed that the victim and another man were walking north on Myrtle Avenue when a black colored SUV, pulled up behind them, rolled the windows down and the occupants of the vehicle began shooting at the two men, striking one of them, the statement read.

The gunshot victim sustained a single bullet wound to the right side of his chest and the two men ran from the scene. The gunshot victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and his injury is considered to be non-life-threatening.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting but officials are asking anyone with information pertaining to the drive-by shooting contact Det Adam Mendes of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 1 (800) 533-7443  or Det Sgt Les Borges of Neptune Township Police at (732) 988-8000.

Anonymous tips can be made by calling the Monmouth County Crime Stoppers confidential telephone line at 1-800-671-4400; texting “MONMOUTH” with their tip to 274637; or by e-mail via www.monmouthcountycrimestoppers.com.  The tip line will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of criminals and fugitives, officials said.
