Asbury Park Police Arrest Main Street Burglary Suspect

Neptune Man, 37, was chased by the caller after stealing nail gun and sweatshirt from vehicle

A Monday afternoon car burglar was immediately arrest following an attempt to make off with a nail gun and sweatshirt, Asbury Park Police Department announced via a written statement.

Jackie Small, 37, of Neptune was charged with burglary and theft, officials said.

Police responded near 3:01 p.m. Monday to a burglary in progress call along the 400 block of Main Street, according to the statement. Small  who had broken the window of a vehicle, was being chased by the caller.

He reportedly stole a black box containing a nail gun and a sweatshirt. Officials said the items were recovered and submitted as evidence.

Small was remanded to Monmouth County Jail, pending a future court appearance.

Police Officer William Reng was the arresting officer.
