Asbury Park Spring Bazaar Celebrates Mother’s Day
Local musicians and artisans featured in support of AP Boys & Girls Club
Mother’s Day weekend kicks off at the annual Asbury Park Spring Bazaar from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Grand Arcade of Convention Hall.
The curated event features local artists, designers, shops, and artisans showcasing handmade goods, vintage clothing, art, music, photography, and food.
Mother’s Day hits include Philadelphia based Faye + Rene’s hand tied bouquets and arrangements and Pop Shop Photobooth boardwalk snapshots that can further personalize any gift, according to a news release.
Held in partnership with The Market Asbury Park, Asbury Park Boardwalk, The Anchor’s Bend, and Asbury Oyster Bar, the Bazaar will bring together over 40 vendors, founder and event organizer Jenny Vickers said in the written news statement. The Spring Bazaar’s charity of choice is the Boys and Girls Club of Asbury Park.
“Giving back to the community is at the heart of the Asbury Park Bazaar,” Vickers said. “Each event benefits a local charity and provides an opportunity for event-goers to help someone in need.”
Working in partnership with the Asbury Park Boardwalk and the Monmouth Association of Realtors, the Bazaar will include a kids craft area and the collection of donations and supplies for the Monroe Avenue facility.
The local singer-songwriter showcase VIVE L’ACOUSTICA features:
1 p.m. Joshua Mark brings his distinctive beach folk sound described in the written statement as “an easy, behind the beat vocal delivery over carefree guitar strumming, immediately conjure images of a late night bonfire party with Citizen Cope and Donovan Frankenreiter.”
At 1:45 p.m. Francis Lombardi’s vocal prowess in the ilk of Joe Cocker or Paolo Nutini, is described as an “acoustic performances balanced by the subtlety and intricacy of his song arrangements and storytelling.”
At 2:30 p.m. J.T. Makoviecki performs “solo material that strays a bit from the Appalachia by way of the Pine Barrens sound of his band, Thomas Wesley Stern, and towards what one would assume are the roots of his influences…”
At 3:15 p.m. Dan Waszay brings the “darkness and depth of the Pacific northwest in the middle of the open space at the edge of the southern California desert.”
Vickers also announced the return of the Asbury Park Night Bazaar beginning Memorial Day weekend. The 6 to 11 p.m. showcase will be held May 27, June 3 and 10.
Saturday’s vendors include: Ashley’s Handmade Designs and Salted Gems Jewelry; Homemade Betty and Mystical Apothecary; Epoch Trading Post and Moonmind Vintage; Lovely Little Plants and Anchored in NJ; Corey Hudson’s art and Derwood Paint Co; Stella + Stosh and Lizzy Storm Designs; Julia Passafiume Design; and food by Diego’s Chocolate, Holly Jolly Jams, and From The Garden.
