Asbury Park Teens Arrested For Spate of Car Burglaries
Duo Burglarized Vehicles In Allenhurst, Asbury Park and Deal
Two Asbury Park teens were arrested early Tuesday morning in connection with a spate of burglaries that have plagued three neighboring communities in recent weeks, Ocean Township Police Department announced in a news release.
Maverick Parreott, 18, has been charged with burglary, theft, burglar tools obstruction, possession of a weapon and criminal mischief, officials said. A 15-year-old male city resident was also charged in connection to the case.
Police were called near 1:49 a.m. to the West Allenhurst neighborhood after a resident reportedly observed two males burglarizing vehicles.
Having observed a vehicle with its interior light illuminated, police approached and the two exited the vehicle and fled the area. After a brief foot pursuit, police were able to detain the duo.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the two committed car burglaries in Deal, Allenhurst and Asbury Park over the past several weeks.
Maverick was released on a summons, pending a future court appearance and the juvenile was released to a parent, pending an initial appearance in family court.
The Ocean Township officers involved include responding Patrolmen Ryan Krug and Dean Schoch, and Detectives Michael Legg and Michael Melody.
