In light of Governor Phil Murphy’s declaration of a State of Emergency, organizers of the Asbury Park Women’s Convention have decided to reschedule 4 to 6 pm Sunday, March 15 event “Women Who Run New Jersey: a panel discussion featuring Lt Governor Sheila Oliver and former Lt Governor Kim Guadagno.”
“It is with great disappointment that the Asbury Park Women’s Convention postpone our main events and historic conversation between Lt. Governors Sheila Oliver and Kim Guadagno,” Cofounder Jessica Alaimo said. “While the governor has noted that the overall risk that Covid-19 poses to New Jerseyans is currently low, we have decided to postpone the main event out of an abundance of caution and what we observe happening in other states.”
The two-day third annual event was intended to pay homage to the centennial of the 19th Amendment passage; the result of the ‘Suffragette Movement.’ In doing so, the weekend Asbury Park Women’s Convention Business Crawl was organized to bring the hundreds who attend the annual event into the city’s many female-owned and/or operated businesses.
“Our local business owners came up with such creative and amazing events, exhibits, tributes, and workshops to celebrate the APWC3 weekend,” said organizer Dani Fiori, “We are really looking forward to still checking out everyone’s programming while both honoring Women in History and showing support to our local female neighbors, friends, and peers.”
The following venues will be proceeding with their planned Women’s Business Crawl programming in a concerted effort to honor Women’s History Month:
“We are so grateful to all the sponsors, speakers, and attendees who planned to join us at our main event on Sunday,” said Cofounder Amy Quinn, “Stay tuned; we will be rescheduling this event in the near future to honor and pay tribute to the women who continue to make our state and communities great. “
Organizers also said tickets and fees purchased via tickweb.com will be refunded in total.
