Asbury Park’s Sunday St. Patrick’s Day Parade Recap
Photo vignette captures city's Third Annual Irish celebration
Escorted by the Asbury Park Police Department, Sunday’s Third Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade was led by the city’s Harold Daley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1333, and honored the Caroll Family as grand marshals.
Timed by Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jackie Pappas, the parade was a flow of metered live music floats from The Stone Pony, Lakehouse Music Academy, The Weeklings, Kim Marie’s, and The Saint.
In between, Wonder Bar and Rescue Ridge offered mini pup parade, while Second Life Bikes paired up with the Asbury Park Complete Streets Coalition for a bike procession. The Jersey Shore Roller Girls skated by while the Zombies offered their march of the dead as Santa joined the local Asbury Park Toy Drive non profit. [shown at right]
Music also came from the Asbury Park High School Marching Band, Philadelphia Mummers, Pipes and Drums of the Jersey Shore, the Joseph A Ferko String Band, and radio stations Jersey 101.5 featuring Big Joe Henry, 94.3 The Point, and 95.9 The WRAT.
Philadelphia was well represented with by a stream of mummers and the Uptown String Band, South Philly-based Spartans, and Pennsport String Band.
Marine Academy of Science and Technology, joined the Boys and Girls Scout troops, the Asbury Park Rotary Club, The Center, VNA Health Group, Project REAL – The Jersey Shore’s LGBTQ Young Adult social club, Asbury Park Histoical Society and the Asbury Park Education Association.
Asbury Park’s Fire Department was joined by fire companies from Ocean Grove, Wayside, and Deal, with Wanamassa and Allenhurst fire houses brought us back to past with vintage roadsters and ambulances.
