Asbury Police on a manhunt for shooting suspect
Victim did not suffer life threatening injuries
Asbury Park Police are searching for a man who they believe shot a 21-year-old Asbury Park resident at the intersection of Bangs and Ridge avenues at around 2:40 a.m. Friday.
Police received a call that about five shots had been fired at the intersection where the man was standing, according to Capt. Anthony Salerno.
The victim was shot once but did not suffer life threatening injuries, Salerno said. He was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.
Authorities describe the shooter as a male in his early 20s who is between 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 inches tall, weighs about 160 to 170 pounds and has dreadlocks.
Police have received some information that has given them an opportunity to follow some leads and are currently investigating those leads, Salerno said.
Police say the victim has not offered any information about the case and may have ties to the Crips street gang.
A camera posted at the intersection the shooting took place was not operational at the time of the incident, according to Salerno.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Gabe Carrasquillo at 732-775-2936.
