Asbury Underground Artists On Display At Art629
The Local Dozen's Work On Display Now Through Nov. 23
Asbury Underground – The Locals featured exhibit is currently on display at art629 Gallery on Cookman.
The Asbury Underground Art and Music Crawl runs next weekend but the 12 featured local artists’ work on display will run through Nov. 13, Asbury Underground founder and art629 Gallery owner Pat Schiavano said.
The popular two-day Asbury Underground, draws thousands to city for the art and music showcase. This year, the Oct. 15 and 16 event features collaborations with Asbury Fresh and Asbury Bites, joining the best eats from the areas restaurants and artisans. A featured music showcase will be held Saturday at The House of Independents, and a poetry slam is slated for Sunday afternoon at Toast. After parties are planned on Saturday and Sunday at The Asbury and The Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten, respectively.
“With the continued interest and success of Asbury Underground in celebrating the vibrant art and music scene here in Asbury Park, we here at art629 Gallery are very proud to host this current exhibition,” Schiavino said. “[It] once again showcases just how fertile this area is in the fine arts as well as our very historic musical heritage.”
This year’s featured local artists include: Brittany James, Claire Sheprow, Denise Dmochowski, Doug Fuchs, Maggie Brown, Mallory Massara, Michael Johnson, Patrick Schiavino, Porkchop, Roddy Wildeman, Steve Forbert, and Suzanne Anan.
An opening reception for the artists also is scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 23, Schiavino said.
