Audience and musicians on stage at Paramount concerts
Graham Parker, Marshall Crenshaw in new 'Paramount backstage' series
Music lovers and Paramount Theatre admirers will be offered a new performance concept this summer, with a series of four Saturday concerts featuring seating set up on the actual stage of the Paramount.
Dubbed “Paramount Backstage. Where the audience and music share the stage”, the performances will be limited to 200 seats on the stage facing out toward where the audience normally sits. The performers will face the backstage and the concert attendees — so the Paramount itself will serve as the backdrop. A bar and snack bar will be set up on stage.
Scheduled performers are country duo Williams Honor on June 13, Graham Parker on June 27, Marshall Crenshaw on July 25 and Loudon Wainwright III on August 22. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and shows begin at 8:00 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Friday May 15th at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at the Stone Pony Box office or through Ticketmaster. Prices are $27 for the Wiliams Honor show and $38 for the other performances, plus applicable service charges.
“With their backs to the house seats, each artist will play facing the backstage where there will be a limited amount of seats for fans creating a true, close‐up experience with the artist,” according to a statement from boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette, which is producing the event with Sammy Boyd Productions.
“The audience will enter through the stage door for a true backstage experience,” the statement said.
