Beach Club plans full opening date of June 14
Could be earlier if repairs done by Memorial Day
Repairs to the Allenhurst Beach Club should be completed by Memorial Day weekend, with a full opening date of June 14, Mayor David McLaughlin said at last night’s borough commissioners’ meeting.
“If everything falls into place by Memorial Day weekend, we’ll shoot for that,” McLaughlin said. “We’re acting like it’s a Memorial Day opening, but as of right now it’s June 14.”
Contracts for the installation of pilings and cabanas have penalty clauses per day if the contractors don’t finish by Memorial Day, said Joe Tomaino, who has been retained by the borough as architect for the beach club project.
“Let’s keep our fingers crossed that things won’t go wrong, and we’ll have have cabanas with electricity and water functioning by Memorial Day,” Tomaino said.
