Blue Bishops kick off 2012 season on Saturday
Stadium's grand re-opening ceremony precedes first home game against Keyport
Asbury Park High School’s Blue Bishops football team is ready to make its fall debut this Saturday, starting with a Grand Re-Opening Celebration at 11:45 a.m.
The school district is inviting the public to celebrate the field’s re-opening on Sept. 8 prior to the football team’s first home game against Keyport, which starts at noon.
The football stadium [pictured above over the summer] behind the high school on Sunset Avenue was recently refurbished and is home to a new turf field.
“Seven years ago, this was just a dream,” school board president Gregory Hopson is quoted as saying in a news release from the district. “We talked about it so much around the community. We wanted this for the children, something to be proud of, and we made it happen.”
Admission to the football game and celebration is $2 for students and $3 for adults.
