‘Blues & Brews’ kicks off Saturday in Asbury Park
Festival takes place rain or shine, is free to all ages and dog friendly
The “Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues” free series of music festivals are on their way back the shore area, with festivities once again launching in Asbury Park.
Eight acts are scheduled to perform from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 7 in Bradley Park, according to a news release from event promoters.
The Asbury Park High School Jazz Band will lead off with the Star-Spangled Banner. Rocking harmonica blues band Rob Paparozzi & the Hudson River Rats are the headliners. Other acts include the soulful blues and funk sounds of the Mimi Nowak project, electric blues from the Jersey-based Jimmy Pritchard Band featuring Miss Marcy, and extreme harp blues by Big Nancy & the Supreme Court. Lagunitas and Hunterdon brewing companies have signed up to sponsor the beer gardens for the festivals, which help to raise funds for the nonprofit Jazz and Blues Foundation. Coolers are not permitted on the festival grounds.
Food, service and craft vendors will be on hand along with craft stations for kids, adoptable pups and a water station, a charging station sponsored by JCP&L, and talent from WRAT radio station who will be making announcements throughout the day.
The series will then head to Point Pleasant Boro on July 19 and Long Branch on Aug. 23, the release stated. All ages are invited to attend the festivals, which are free to the public, dog friendly, and take place rain or shine.
Bradley Park is located at 1300 Ocean Avenue, just west of Convention Hall.
