The city council will hold a special meeting at 5 p.m. today to award a bid for repairs to the southern end of the city’s boardwalk.
The boardwalk was damaged in Hurricane Sandy in October 2012. The city expects and hopes to have repairs finished by May 17, for an opening day of May 18.
Bids were accepted last week, and the city was prepared to award the contract to the lowest bidder. But the second lowest bidder approached the microphone during public comment and told city officials there was a defect in the bid they were about to approve.
City officials were unsure of whether any issues with the low bid could be considered defects, but city attorney Fred Raffetto advised the council to go out to bid once more due to the project’s importance. Click here for the full story.
The meeting is slated to start at 5 p.m. and there are no other items on the agenda.
