Bond Street Bar to add upstairs seating, roof deck by summer 2014
Council unanimously approves amendment to CBD plan
A downtown tavern is set to expand upward.
The Bond Street Bar will add upstairs seating and rooftop bar by summer 2014, owner Pat Fasano said today.
The first floor has operated as a bar with a food menu for about two years, Fasano said. The bar and picnic-style table on the first floor tend to fill up quickly with customers, so the second story will include plenty of seating for bar-goers who want to sit and eat, Fasano said.
The 1,290-square-foot second floor will be “restaurant-oriented” and may pave the way for some additions to the bar’s menu, Fasano said. It will also be available for events and private parties. The downstairs kitchen will serve both floors.
The roof deck will include a tiki-style bar and be open on a seasonal basis, Fasano said.
The second floor will also include a new office and restrooms, Fasano said. That floor and the roof deck will not be wheelchair-accessible, but plans include changes to the first floor to make it more accessible to the disabled.
The city council had to approve an amendment to the city’s downtown redevelopment plan at its April 3 meeting to allow the changes, as the redevelopment plan currently does not allow commercial properties on upper floors of buildings in the central business district. The council unanimously voted in favor of the amendment.
