The two Democrats on the statewide ballot this fall — Barbara Buono and Cory Booker — will be in Asbury Park this evening.

Gubernatorial candidate Buono and Asbury Park Councilman John Loffredo will host a meet-and-greet at Brickwall Tavern and Restaurant at 7:15 p.m.

Loffredo was called by the Buono campaign to attend the event, but does not know if she will be speaking on a particular topic, he said.

Following the Brickwall event, Buono and Loffredo will join Newark Mayor and U.S Senate candidate Booker at Asbury Park High School for a ‘Run with Cory in Asbury Park’ event at 8 p.m. The group will run from the high school down Sunset Avenue to Main Street, turn right on Main Street and head down Fifth Avenue to the boardwalk. The run is open to the public.

“It drums up support and gets him to talk to people in the community about issues they are dealing with on a daily basis,” said Joe Grillo, chairman of the Asbury Park Democratic Committee and executive director for the Monmouth County Democrats. “It is a good, positive way for people in the community to meet with Cory.”
