A 24-year-old man was fatally shot on Sewall Avenue today, Police Chief Mark Kinmon has confirmed.

The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Sewall Avenue during the mid-afternoon today. The area of Sewall Avenue between Comstock and Langford streets is currently closed off with police tape [pictured above].

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Asbury Park Police Department Detective Bureau are working jointly to investigate this case, Kinmon said.

This is the second fatal shooting this year and this month, Kinmon confirmed. On Sept. 1, a local man was killed on Atkins Avenue, according to police.

No arrests have been made in that shooting either, Kinmon said, “but we’re still dedicating all of our personnel and investigating staff to that case.”

This story is developing.
