Brick Man Charged With Drug Possession

51-year-old found standing along Route 18 w/ Heroin & Suboxone

A Brick man found standing on the should of Route 18 has been charged with the possession of over 30 packets of heroin and suboxone – a prescription drug used to reduce symptoms of opiate addiction and withdrawal, according to a news statement from the Ocean Township Police Department. 

Charles A. Curto, 51, was charged with possession of of the controlled dangerous substances.

Officials said the charges stem from a 6:23 a.m. Wednesday report of a male standing in the shoulder of the roadway, close to the lane of traffic. When Ptl Karen Noel responded, she located Curto near exit 10. While obtaining his identification, Curto dropped what appeared to be a wax fold packet of heroin. He was immediately placed under arrest and transported to the station.

Further investigation revealed that Curto was in possession of 30 additional wax fold packets of heroin along with the prescription drug.

He was processed and released on a criminal summons, pending a future court appearance.
