Behind Saturday’s 7 p.m. British Invasion Concert at the historic Paramount Theater on the  Asbury Park boardwalk is a support initiatives for Mary’s Place by the Sea by Sammy Boyd Productions and featured singer-songwriter Glen Burtnik.

With its mission to support women with cancer through integrative services that complements medical treatment, the Ocean Grove nonprofit opened the doors to its new 10-guestroom respite facility earlier this summer. Behind its programs is the aim to empower, educate and support healing: mind, body and soul.

“It’s an amazing facility created and maintained with love by a wonderfully giving staff,” Burtnik, an Asbury Park resident, said in a written news release. “Pitching in to assist this community based group is an honor really- and I feel like helping raise the profile in the community of this very special oasis is a duty and a pleasure.”

The British Invasion Concert features the 1960’s cultural explosion reenacted by Burtnik, a former Styx member, and a cast of New York and New Jersey musicians, with a special appearance by The Weeklings.

“We are thrilled to be back at the Paramount Theater, where we launched our mission 8 years ago,” Mary’s Place co founder Michele Gannon said.

Over 5,000 women have been guests at Mary’s Place by the Sea and have come from as far as England and Alaska for support. Fundraisers like this are helping build the home and continue the mission to help women across the nation fight cancer, Gannon said.

Exclusive Mary’s Place tickets are still available for $61 in the orchestra seats from rows D through M. Proceeds from these tickets will go directly to non profit.
