Charter Study budget approved
$18,000 spending plan incorporates secretary costs, printing fees
A spending plan for the city’s charter study commission [CSC] was approved at the council meeting held on Jan. 2.
Among the costs listed in the $18,000 budget are $1,000 for consultant fees; $500 for speaking fees; $3,500 for legal fees; and $4,000 for printing costs. A secretary will be hired for an expected total cost of $5,000.
Commissioners overestimated in some areas because any funds that aren’t spent will be returned to the city.
The charter study commission is scheduled to meet tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. in city hall. They will select a secretary and discuss the city’s administrative code with city manager Terence Reidy, who is a guest speaker.
Next Monday, Jan. 14, the commission will meet at the West Side Community Center on Monroe Avenue from 7 to 9 p.m. On Jan. 21 and Jan. 28, the commission will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Springwood Center, on the second floor senior center.
The charter study commission is tasked with scrutinizing the city’s current form of government and possibly selecting changes. They have nine months to complete their task. They started meeting in early December after being elected to the commission in November.
