Citizens on Patrol looking for a few good members
Free six-week training begins March 29 at City Hall
An extra layer of defense against neighborhood crime, the local Citizens on Patrol [COP] group is looking for a few good members.
“This is a city wide unit,” said organizer Arthur Schlossbach. “We patrol by car throughout all four districts of Asbury Park.”
Participating city residents agree to donate an average of two to four hours per week, Schlossbach said.
“You will never be put in any risk or dangerous situations,” he said.
A six class, weekly training course begins March 29 at the Municipal Court Room at City Hall, 1 Municipal Plaza, Schlossbach said.
The training is similar to that of entry level police officers minus any gun or weapon’s training, he said.
Graduates are given one patrol and one dress uniform upon completion. Patrol are administered in pairs.
