City fireworks display postponed until Saturday
Postponement due to high winds and rain Friday
Due to today’s rain and high winds expected this evening, the city’s Fourth of July fireworks display has been postponed, city fire officials have confirmed.
The fireworks display will instead take off Saturday, July 5 at 9 p.m. from three staging areas located on the First, Second, Third and Fourth avenue beaches.
Beachgoers will need to clear the beach by 6 p.m. for setup.
The display is co-hosted by master waterfront redeveloper iStar Residential, boardwalk retail developer Madison Marquette and the City of Asbury Park.
This year’s show promises to be “bigger and brighter than ever before, with a wide array of colorful fireworks from New Jersey’s own pyrotechnic specialists, Garden State Fireworks,” according to a news release from iStar.
