City man shot once in knee after he attempted to flee robbery

29-year-old taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries

A 29-year-old city resident was shot once in the knee Sunday night after making an attempt to flee two men who robbed him at gunpoint, according to Asbury Park police Capt. Marshawn Love.

At 10:15 p.m. Asbury Park police received a call of shots fired in the 1500 block of Bond Street, Love said.

When police arrived they found the victim, a 29-year-old city man, who reported he was walking in the area when he was approached from behind and held at gunpoint by two men in ski masks, one wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, said Love.

Two males took the victim’s money and when the the victim attempted to flee, he was shot once in the knee, Love said.

The victim was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center where received treatment for a non life-threatening injury, said Love.
