City of Asbury Park launches new website
Replaces previous site that was hacked nearly two years ago
A brand new City of Asbury Park website launched Tuesday, according to a city news release.
The new website replaces a temporary splash page used after the full city website was shut down by hackers in August of 2013. The domain name, cityofasburypark.com, remains the same.
It contains links that include information for prospective business owners, residents, future residents, events and services that facilitate use and maintenance — and additional information and services will soon be added. When fully loaded, users will be able to access city forms for downloading as well as current and archived meeting agendas and minutes. A bill and fee payment function is also expected to be added at a later date, the release stated.
“The website is an important component of our goal of better communication with the residents of Asbury Park,” Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn said in the release.
Quinn, former Deputy Mayor Sue Henderson, Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jackie Pappas, Asbury Park Police Officer Brian Migliorisi and Tom Gilmour, the city’s director of economic development, sat on a committee to review the seventeen proposals sent in by various companies before selecting eGov Strategies, LLC, as the company to design and host the site.
“Our objective was to create a site loaded with current and informative content to keep our residents up to date and visitors aware of all that is happening in our city,” Gilmour said in the release.
Residents are encouraged to check out the site and make suggestions, Gilmour said, as the site is a perpetual work in progress. Comments should be forwarded to tom.gilmour@cityofasburypark.com.
