City Resident Arrested For Shots Fired Sunday Incident Along Prospect Avenue
No One Injured But 18-yr-old Charged With Gun and Drug Possession
An Asbury Park teen has been arrested in connection with shots fired Sunday in the vicinity of Prospect and Mattison avenues, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced in a written statement.
Dyquan P. Young, 18, is charged with second degree possession of a firearm for unlawful, and the third degree crimes of hindering the apprehension of another, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute and to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school, and fourth degree tampering, officials said.
Asbury Park police responded to a 2:15 p.m report of multiple shots fired in the 100 block of Prospect Avenue. Responding officers found no victims but collected evidence from the scene, officials said.
A joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Asbury Police Department determined a group of people were gathered in the area when the gunfire occurred, officials said.
Young was remanded to Monmouth County Jail, pending a Feb 12 detention hearing before Superior Court Judge John R. Tassini. He faces up to ten years for the unlawful firearm possession, up to five years for the third degree offenses, and up to 18 months for tampering.
