Coastal Habitat For Humanity Will Honor Chamber Duo & Community Leader Frank Syphax
April 11 Event Celebrates 25 Years Serving Southern Monmouth County
The Coastal Habitat for Humanity has announced its 25th Anniversary celebration – Hard Hats High Heels will honor a few members of the Asbury Park community. The 6 to 10 pm April 11 event will be held at Jumping Brook Country Club, located at 210 Jumping Brook Rd.
Founded in 1994, the nonprofit works to ensure southern Monmouth County residents have secure housing.
Those being honored are Sylvia Sylvia-Cioffi and Matthew Whelan [shown above], the duo behind the day to day operations of the Chamber of Commerce in Asbury Park. The pair are being honored for being friends and supporters of business, non-profit and the residential community, as well as for their leadership in collaborative efforts to improve quality of life in the greater Asbury Park region, organizers said in a written notice.
Asbury Park community leader Frank Syphax [below left], who is a member of the Coastal Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, will be honored for his work, including as Vice Chair of the Asbury Park Housing Authority Board of Commissioners. Syphax was instrumental in bringing the Junior Entrepreneur Training [JET] program to the city. The multi-week program, now administered by Konscious Youth Development Services [KYDS], teaches middle schoolers the dos and don’ts behind bringing a product from fruition to sale, which occurs at the annual Mad in Monmouth event.
Charles Mannino, Vice President of Development and Construction at Sun Equity Partners, is being honored for serving the organization since 2004. His roles have included Board President and founder and current chair of the annual Golf Outing, now in its eighth year.
Also being honored is New Jersey Natural Gas, not only for its work energizing area communities but for its partnership, volunteerism, and funding support to many area causes.
The Coastal Habitat for Humanity serves Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Avon by the Sea, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Brielle, Deal, Interlaken, Lake Como, Loch Arbor, Manasquan, Neptune City, Neptune, Ocean Twp., Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, and Wall.

Its ReStore thrift shop is located at 1105 Memorial Drive, with proceeds supporting the nonprofits diverse programs. Since its founding in 2007, ReStore has diverted over three million pounds of potential waste from local landfills, officials said.
