Two key position within the municipal administration have been filled.
City Manager Michael Capabianco said the Director of Public Works and the newly created Director of Communications hires will start their posts on January 4.
Former Hillside Township Public Works Supervisor William ‘Billy’ McClave of Howell will be heading the Department of Public Works. According to a February Union News Daily report, McClave spent over 23 years working for the municipality.
His annual starting salary will be $112,500.
Hannah Walker, a city resident and currently the associate publisher at the triCityNews, will take on the role of Asbury Park’s Director of Communications. She joined the newspaper in 2012. [The triCityNews owns the asburyparksun.com.] Walker will cease her tenure at the paper after its December 24 issue.
“I wish Hannah great success and I hate to lose her. She’s been a terrific employee for these three and a half years,” said triCityNews Publisher Dan Jacobson. “Hannah is exceptionally intelligent and personable. Our loss is the city’s gain.”
Walker’s annual salary will be $52,500.
The Communication Director’s responsibilities include providing advice, support and planning for developing and administering high-profile marketing initiatives, programs and projects relating to business recruitment and development, according to the posted job description.
Fire Chief Kevin Keddy and Social Services Director Anthony Nuccio will receive annual $10,000 stipends as they work to close out pending projects, Capabianco said.
Nuccio served as Interim City Manager while the Asbury Park City Council conducted their search to permanently fill the post.
