Editor, the Asbury Park Sun:
We need leaders, not puppets!
Why we need a fresh perspective: the current council has allowed the city to stagnate.
1. In the last five years, zero units were built on the waterfront.
2. The city bought $880,000 worth of parking meters with only one bid and no quotes.
3. The council voted to hold Asbury Partners in default even though our litigation attorney said it was a loser and we should mediate. We ended up losing six out of the seven defaults. That cost the taxpayers $250,000 in legal fees.
4. Because of the loss we then had to come up with a PILOT [payment in lieu of taxes] program which benefits the developers, not the taxpayers.
5. The 2012 $1,000,000 tax “mistake.” The public trust was betrayed. Instead of asking questions, it was condoned. Now some of the incumbents are negotiating with the city manager to reward him with a new contract, while the residents still wait for an apology.
6. They said One Asbury supports a free beach and free parking for out-of-towners. That’s a flat-out lie. That’s what you call desperation. I guess you can make this stuff up.
The triCityNews endorses One Asbury.
The Coaster newspaper endorses Quinn, Campbell and Moor.
Vote for Change. Vote One Asbury. Vote the entire team — 6. Quinn, 7. Campbell, 8. Woerner, 9. Moor, 10. Crank.
— Councilman Jim Bruno, Asbury Park
