Cowerks’ workshops tackle comm in the digital age
Increase creative collaboration, keep social media messages on-brand
Two January workshops scheduled at Cowerks shared meeting space in Asbury Park will help entrepreneurs and small business owners amp up their 21st century communication strategies.
On Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, “Improve Your Public Speaking: Using Improv to Enhance Communication and Increase Innovation in the Workspace” will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Improv is about more than just making people laugh. It’s about listening, collaboration, and working to build something that is bigger than the individual. Whether on stage or in the office, people love to feel good about working together. And there are skills, techniques, and attitudes from improv that anyone can learn to create real teamwork. The easier it is for people to connect, communicate, and create together, the more work gets done, and the more innovative ideas are bound to spring up, according to an event release.
Taught by local educator and Creative Director of the Improv Jam Comedy Lab, Mike O’Keefe, “Improv in the Workspace” is a team-building workshop filled with fast-paced, interactive fun, where attendees will practice active learning and communication exercises applicable to any business situation.
Following the improv workshop, “Find Your Voice: Reduce Your Blog Shame” will run from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Internet has changed the marketing world forever. Today, every business is expected not only to have a website, but also maintain at least one social media profile to connect with and engage its customers. This may seem simple on the surface; profiles are free to create, and posts can be made instantly from a multitude of devices that are becoming more and more accessible. However, the content and language of your posts require just as much attention as the product you are selling: your brand.
Taught by Jessica Ann, CEO and Creative Director of Jessica Ann Media, “Find Your Voice” will show attendees how to produce engaging written copy for their business’s web posts.
Early Bird admission to each event is $25, and General Admission starts 1/10/15 at $29. An Early Bird day pass is $45, and a General Admission day pass is $49. All require registration at Cowerks.Eventbrite.com.
Cowerks is located on the third floor of the Lakehouse building at 619 Lake Ave.
