A 56-year-old crossing guard sustained a broken tibia and head injuries after being struck by a car early Tuesday morning, Asbury Park Police Department spokesman Michael Casey said.
The accident occurred at Third Avenue and Pine Street.
Casey said the victim was admitted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
The driver, a 22-year-old resident, was traveling east on Third Avenue in a 1999 Chevrolet Cavilier when she failed to yield to traffic signs and cones. She was issued a careless driving summons.
