DAVID BROWN ELECTED MONMOUTH COUNTY DEMOCRATS CHAIR
Long Branch Native & Former Booker Aide Will Serve Through June 2018
The Monmouth County Democrats County Committee unanimously elected David G Brown II as its Chairman Monday night.
The Long Branch native takes over the position left open by former Chair Vin Gopal, who stepped down to run for State Senate.
Brown, who has been a Long Branch Democratic Party volunteer for over a decade, served the past four years as the Monmouth County Democrats Executive Committee treasurer.
He is currently a Monmouth County Tax Commissioner, serves as the Business Administrator for the City of Roselle, and previously served as an aide to then Newark Mayor Cory Booker.
Brown, married father who is active in his local church, will serve the over 800 elected committee-members. Support for his nomination came from outgoing Chairman Vin Gopal, acting Chairwoman Mary Foster, U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone Jr, Assemblymembers Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downey, Monmouth County native and gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy, and over 20 Democratic Mayors and 53 Democratic Municipal Leaders.
He will finish out the current term, which expires in June of 2018.
