After checking out windows and displays of businesses all over town, the Chamber of Commerce has chosen winners of the 2013 holiday decorations contest.
Businesses were judged on two criteria: “Spirit of Asbury” and “Holiday Festive,” according to Jackie Pappas, the Chamber’s executive director. The combined scored was used to determine who would take home the top prize: gift certificates to Moonstruck restaurant, valued at $50 for first place and $25 for second, as well as complimentary entry to Chamber business card exchanges for a full year.
Pappas and Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Honoree Ken Roth judged the windows.
First prize was awarded to Toast restaurant on Cookman Avenue [pictured above]. DJ’s Delights restaurant, on Mattison Avenue, won second place.
Pure, on Cookman Avenue, took home the Voter’s Choice award, based on customer nominations on First Saturday weekend. Robert Legere and Lush were also popular among customers, Pappas said.
“The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all the downtown businesses that dressed their windows for the holiday season,” Pappas said in a prepared release. “The contest was a fun way to highlight some great window art and to encourage our fans to come to town during First Saturday weekend and get involved.”
