Doggie Halloween Coming to The Asbury
Sunday Costume Contest in support of Rescue Ridge Animal Shelter
A Halloween costume party for man’s best friend is coming Sunday to The Asbury, the city’s newest hotel and entertainment venue.
The inaugural Halloween Doggie Costume Party is being held to support the local Rescue Ridge shelter’s efforts to find animals a home, regardless of their circumstances, organizers said.
Located in Spring Lake, the all volunteer network is often the last-chance opportunity for a rescue to be rehabilitated and placed with families.
“With this event, we are trying to raise awareness and funds for the homeless animals in Asbury Park that need food, supplies, and forever homes,” hotelier David Bowd said. “Proceeds from this event go toward Rescue Ridge, which is a no kill, non profit organization that fosters animals until they can find them welcoming home. They count on the public and donations to be able to continue to do this important work.”
Held from 2 to 4 p.m. in The Asbury’s outdoor beer garden, the event features one grand prize for best costume, Bowd said.
And for the canine’s handlers, there will be a mini auction of gift cards and services donated by area businesses, including The Studio on Route 35 in Eatontown, Paws+Anchors in Bradley Beach, Two River Theatre and Coffee Corral in Red Bank.
Rescue Ridge volunteers will be on hand to share more information about their mission and adoptable dogs, Bowd said.
