Dream Academy students get jump on college careers
Program part of Asbury School District's Building a Brighter Future campaign
The Asbury Park Dream Academy Early College program students formerly entered their dual college program today.
The new initiative, a collaboration with Brookdale Community College, allows students to earn an associate degree by the time they graduate from high school.
The Asbury Park School district’s inaugural class of 15 are currently participating in a four-week college preparatory program at the Newman Springs Road campus in Middletown.
On Thursday, the students participated in a literary circle and Root to Rise Yoga class.
Root to Rise is a local nonprofit that works to break the mental barriers and stigma associated with addiction and recovery by building a community through physical activity and mental wellness programs, founder Amy Budinich has said.
In attendance were the 15 students, Asbury Park School District Superintendent Dr. Lamont Repollet, Brookdale President Dr. Maureen Murphy, and other officials from the Asbury Park School District and Brookdale Community College.
