Driver, 23, dies in early morning crash

Four passengers unhurt in same vehicle that flipped over

An early morning automobile accident on Memorial Drive took the life of a 23 year old city man, while the four passengers in the vehicles escaped unharmed.

At 12:53 a.m., Jeffrey Voltaire was driving a 2003 Jeep Cherokee south on Memorial Drive when he lost control of the vehicle and if flipped over at the Second Avenue intersection, according to Deputy Chief Anthony Salerno.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, Salerno said.

The Asbury Park Fire Department and EMT personnel responded to the scene and transported Voltaire to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, where he was pronounced dead at 5:13 a.m., Salerno said.

Asbury Park Police Officer Anthony Butler and the Monmouth County serious collision analysis response team are conducting the investigation into the crash.
