Dunes Boardwalk Café opens this Weekend
Ocean Grove North End Pavilion Redeveloped as Beachside Cooperative Eatery
A group of entrepreneurs will celebrate the launch their cooperative venture – the Dunes Boardwalk Café – through the weekend.
Located at the former Homestead Restaurant along the Ocean Grove boardwalk, the 7,500 square-foot structure remained vacant since Superstorm Sandy.
The space now boasts food stands, dining and an event space overlooking the ocean views.
The venues include Bites on the Boards, featuring wings, mac and cheese, pulled pork and pretzels. Burgers on the Boards serves everything from a hot breakfast to burgers and fries, while Coney Waffle unites waffles and ice cream.
At Crepes & Cakes patrons can choose from a selection of crepes, doughnuts and other baked goods, while It’s All Good Kitchen brings healthy organic juices, smoothies, bowls, salads, and coffee to the more traditional boardwalk fare.
At Miyako, traditional sushi is paired with sushi burritos and salads, while Papa Blootz Pizza entices the palate with its pizza, subs, and cheesesteaks.
The Lobstah Roll is as it name suggests, a place to get an overstuffed lobster roll and fresh squeezed lemonade.
Beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, the Grand Opening Ceremony will feature live music by Big Bob Smith until 9 p.m.
Return 8 a.m. Saturday for a Mary’s Place fundraising Yoga event sponsored by It’s All Good Kitchen. Both venues, the nonprofit working to support women diagnosed with cancer, and the healthy boardwalk fare venue are headed by Michele Gannon.
By noon, a dry land surf lesson will precede a family-fun event, featuring face painting. Live music kicks back up at 6 p.m. with The Tommy Guns Duo. From 9 to 11 a.m. Hellhound Roasters will host a live coffee roasting benefit in support of the U.S. Navy. The celebrations end with noon to 2 p.m. gathering, featuring a Walk the Blue Carpet Photo Op event.
