Dunn supports Will Potter
'Will is not a talker or a demonstrator... He's a do-er'
Editor, the Asbury Park Sun:
I’m writing to urge your readers to vote for Will Potter and his colleagues on the Forward Asbury Park ticket. I’ve been reading a lot about the 22 candidates running and I see people that are good talkers — even flamboyant speakers — but Will is not a talker or a demonstrator… He’s a do-er.
Will is the president of the Long Branch teachers’ union, dedicated to serving the 700 teachers, school employees and support personnel. Throughout his career, he has listened to and helped those who need help the most. Since the 1990s, Will has worked as a social worker, pounding the pavement on the West Side helping kids and parents alike. Even now, when he speaks at events, I’m delighted (but not surprised) that there are always a handful of people in the audience that recognize Will and call out, “Hey, Mr. Potter!”
Will Potter is not only a dedicated worker of the people… He’s also a great dad. I’ve seen Will with his two teenaged daughters walking door-to-door, bubbling with optimism and enthusiasm. His kids are even making phone calls from his campaign office, asking residents, “Will you vote for my dad?”
The most important traits of being a city council member is leading through listening and connecting by clearly understanding the situations many residents go through, day in and day out, especially in a city like Asbury Park. Will Potter emobides these traits of listening and understanding. He does this without rancor or fanfare, without publicity, simply because it’s the right thing to do.
I support Will Potter and his colleagues on Forward Asbury Park — Sue Henderson, John Loffredo, Kevin Sanders and Greg Hopson — and encourage Asbury Park residents to vote numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 on Tuesday, May 14.
— Michele Dunn, Asbury Park
