OTPD: Mother left sleeping child in car while she shopped
A mother who left her sleeping child in the car while she shopped was arrested Friday after police located her inside Burlington Coat Factory on Route 66, Ocean Township Police Department announced via a news statement.
Humu Koroma, 33, of Neptune was charged with endangering the welfare of minor.
Officials said they responded near 5:35 p.m. to a report of a small child wandering around the parking lot. After canvassing the parking lot they located a vehicle with the door slightly ajar.
“The vehicle registration was checked and that name was broadcasted within Burlington Coat Factory and the vehicle owner was located,” officials said.
Koroma was processed and released on a criminal summons, pending a future court appearance. The Division of Child Protection and Permanency was notified and will be conducting a follow up investigation, officials said.
Patrolmen Tim Kolodziej, Glennis Polanco, Sgt Bryan Morgan, and Detectives Greg Martone and Jesse Orbach investigated.
