‘Erratic’ driving leads to drug arrests at Asbury circle
Passenger allegedly provided false name, wanted on outstanding warrants
An Asbury Park woman and a Long Branch man were caught with crack cocaine, marijuana and prescription drugs in their possession Friday after their car was pulled over near the Asbury Park circle, according to Ocean Township police.
Police observed a 2001 Mazda being “operated erratically” through the circle around 1:00 a.m. on Jan. 9 and signaled the car to stop, according to a news release from the Ocean Township Police Department.
During the stop, a passenger in the vehicle, Rishaun J. Henderson, allegedly provided a false name to the officers and was determined to have active warrants for his arrest, the news release stated. After placing Henderson under arrest, the officers located two plastic bags in the vehicle containing Crack Cocaine, Marijuana, and 9 Xanax pills, police said.
A subsequent investigation at the scene determined that the drugs belonged to Henderson and a second passenger in the vehicle, Kameasha M. Laster, according to the release. Laster was also placed under arrest and the pair were transported to the Ocean Township Police Department for processing.
Henderson was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a prescription legend drug without valid prescription, and possession of Marijuana [under 50 grams]. Henderson also was found to have active warrants for his arrest from Eatontown and West Long Branch. He was taken to Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Laster was charged with possession of Cocaine, possession of a prescription legend drug without valid prescription, and possession of Marijuana [under 50 grams]. She was released on a complaint summons pending a future court date.
