Explorers Supper Club Lands At High Voltage
Southeast Asian Fare Offered At Weekly Plant Based Pop Up Dinner Series
The Explorers Supper Club will be taking over High Voltage Cafe for a 4-week dinner series, organizers have announced.
The pop up Thursday night dinners, running April 12 to May 3, are the brainchild of local entrepreneur Bret Morgan [below right], who is behind the Asbury Fresh, Cowerks, Humble Humans, and Bands on a Budget ventures.
Joining him will be Shiah Blau, former chef/owner of the Colonel’s Kissing Booth in Asbury Park.
Each night will consist of a three-course set menu, drawing upon the culinary experiences Morgan had during his travels throughout Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.
The meals will be 100 percent plant based so both vegans and omnivores are welcome with open arms, he said.
“Cooking and traveling are two things I’m extremely passionate about,” Morgan said. “Shiah and I are excited to be able to share a little bit of what I’ve experienced and tasted during my adventures through these dinners.”
There are two seatings – 7 to 9 p.m. and the first week’s menu will feature Indonesian Coconut Pumpkin Soup, a Panang Curry with Black Rice, and Thai Coconut Ice Cream – made special for the evening by Cookman Creamery.
Subsequent menus will be forthcoming and will draw upon other indigenous Southeast Asian dishes.
High Voltage Cafe & Grocery is located at 808 Springwood Avenue. The meals are $35 in advance or $45 for walk ins. The events are BYOB and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
