Female Resident Faces Charges Following 2-Hour Standoff
Officials: 31yr old stabbed boyfriend & sustained self-inflicted knife injury
A 31-year-old woman who set off a two-hour standoff with law enforcement in Allenhurst last week is in jail and facing a variety of charges, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni has announced.
Lindsey DiGeronimo of Spier Avenue is charged with the third degree crime of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and the fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon, [a knife].
Allenhurst Police received a 911 call from DiGeronimo’s boyfriend near 7:10 pm June Thursday, advising that he had been stabbed by DiGeronimo, officials said. Officers responded to the scene, where DiGeronimo was home but refused to respond to repeated attempts to contact her.
The police evacuated the apartment building and nearby businesses, and closed off the surrounding area with the assistance of the Monmouth County Rapid Deployment Force and Deal Police Department.
After a two-hour negotiation, DiGeronimo was taken out of the apartment. She was treated on scene by the Allenhurst First Aid Squad and was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment of a self-inflicted, non-life threatening injury, officials said.
“At no time was there any threat to the community and the neighbors were allowed back into their apartments at approximately 10 p.m.,” officials said.
If convicted, DiGeronimo faces five years on both the third degree offenses and 18 months on the fourth degree crime. She was remanded to Monmouth County Jail, pending an initial appearance in Superior Court, scheduled for June 13.
