First beach bonfire Friday night
Popular gathering will be held weekly through October
The first of this season’s beach bonfires will be launched Friday night on the Fifth Avenue beach at 7 p.m., according to the Facebook page for the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
Bonfires will be held all the remaining Friday evenings during May and June, switch to Wednesday evenings during July and August and then back to Friday evenings in September and October, according to an email from Tom Gilmour, the city’s director of economic development.
Boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette, who sets up the weekly bonfires, will also present beach fireworks on Sunday, May 24 and September 12, Gilmour said.
Fireworks during the July 4th weekends have traditionally been organized by the city government.
