Food Biz Seminar Returns Nov 15 At The ShowRoom
Interfaith Neighbors Development Program helps entrepreneurs launch food distribution ventures
Interfaith Neighbors’ Food Entrepreneur program returns Nov 15.
Designed for those home brewers, hot sauce gourmets, keepers of the family’s pastry recipe, the Interfaith Neighbors Business Development Center [BDC] walks budding entrepreneurs through the steps.
“Creating a successful food business is more than just having a good idea or recipe,” BDC Director and program creator Roger Boyce has said.
Administered in conjunction with Rutgers University Food Innovation Center, the Food Business Basics Seminar will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Nov 15 at The ShowRoom Cinema, located at 707 Cookman Ave.
The program includes free business mentoring workshops by BDC professionals, who will guide participants from concept to production.
Launched in November 2016, the program has seen five participants make it into the Rutgers kitchens to bring their product to market and three individuals are working in the early development of their businesses, Interfaith Neighbor’s spokesperson said. The goal is coming up with a successful product which will allow participants to gain access to the food industry technologies at the Rutgers Food Innovation Center.
The seminar includes an overview of the most important aspects of getting a product to market, current consumer trends, food technology, food safety and product commercialization. Applications will be accepted for interested participation.
Financial assistance is available for qualified participants. The cost of the Nov. 15 seminar is $15. To register, click here.
