For 20th year, citizens will march to remember unsolved murder case
11-year-old Quiana Dees was found dead in 1992; her mother leads annual walk
Tomorrow morning, May 5, citizens will march to commemorate a child whose 20-year-old murder case has never been solved.
Asbury Park resident Quiana Dees was 11 years old when she was found dead in Neptune, apparently due to a gunshot wound, according to Asbury Park Police Chief Mark Kinmon. The Neptune police department handled the case and Asbury Park’s department became involved later.
“Every year since, this young lady’s mother has organized a Stop the Violence rally and she is, true to her word, going to do this every year until they find out who was responsible for the death of her child,” Kinmon said.
The department will both assist with traffic control and participate in the march. The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. at Asbury Park Middle School, 1200 Bangs Ave.
“It’s really a heart-touching event,” Kinmon said.
