Former resident Levinsky weighs in on Asbury election
It is important for 'city to elect honest, capable, thoughtful people'
Editor, Asbury Park Sun,
As a resident of Asbury Park from 2001 – 2013, I have a strong attachment to this unique and wonderful city and a desire to see it continue to make progress for all residents. I have seen and known a number of different council members over the years and learned just how important it is for a small city to elect honest, capable, thoughtful people who will move the city forward by listening to residents and governing without personal agendas. It is for that reason that I am supporting the Asbury Together ticket for mayor and council. Current councilmembers John Moor and Amy Quinn have demonstrated a clear ability to govern honestly and effectively over the past year in a very difficult environment and each of the other people on their ticket, Joe Woerner, Jesse Kendle and Yvonne Clayton, have a long record of community service and share Moor’s and Quinn’s vision for open, honest, responsive government and a united city.
By contrast, the so-called “A-Team” has run a highly questionable campaign, paying a small army to run a vote-by-mail and messenger operation strikingly similar to the discredited one several of the same candidates ran last year. It’s impossible to know from who or where the flood of money they have received is coming from, but you don’t amass such a sizable war chest without making promises to someone other than local residents. You govern how you campaign, and the divisive campaign they have conducted speaks volumes as to what we are in store for if their vote-by-mail, hidden-money campaign proves effective.
Don’t be fooled by rhetoric and false promises and don’t be lulled into thinking your vote doesn’t matter. Go to the polls on November 4th and support the Asbury Together ticket.
— H. Robb Levinsky, Neptune
