Free Outdoor Film Screenings Return In Asbury Park
APFI Thursday Night Beach Lineup Announced & Tuesday Night Screenings Begin in Springwood
Get those beach chairs, blankets and snacks ready.
The Asbury Park Film Initiative [APFI] and Shore Flicks have announced the summer free Movies on the Beach lineup.
This mark’s the ninth year of films screenings on the Second Avenue beach in front of Langosta Lounge.
The Film Initiative is a nonprofit founded in 2008 by entrepreneurs Marilyn Schlossbach of Langosta Lounge and film publicist VJ Carbone as a way to provide the city with film and art-related activities that promote culture, education & diversity. Their free film series have included screenings at the iconic Paramount Theatre.
The family-friendly summer movie screenings are displayed on Shore Flicks’ 16-foot inflatable screen [shown in featured photo].
Films start at dusk Thursdays through Aug. 14. The schedule is as follows:
Aug 2 – CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS
Aug 9 – HAIRSPRAY
Aug 16 – JAWS
Aug 23 – BRAVE
Aug 3O – SCHOOL OF ROCK

In related news, free Tuesday night movie screenings are being held in Springwood Avenue Park, located between Union and Atkins avenues.
Sponsored by the Asbury Park Recreation and Community Development departments in conjunction with Interfaith Neighbors, the movies begin 8:30 pm.
