Free tax filing assistance at Community Affairs & Resource Center
Walk-in service provided to lower income earners
The April 15 filing deadline for 2013 tax return is fast approaching, and for low to middle-income earners free filing assistance is available in Asbury Park.
The Community Affairs and Resource Center is offering free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance [VITA] program.
Households with dependents who earn less than $51,000 and households without dependents who earn less than $30,000 are eligible to have their federal and state tax returns calculated and e-filed by IRS certified tax professionals.
Walk-in services will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. until the filing deadline of April 15.
The free, IRS-sponsored VITA program is being held at several locations throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties. Click here to access a list of the documents required for the service, as well as a schedule of the dates and times for other locations that offer the same service.
The Community Affairs Center, formerly the Hispanic Affairs Center, is located at 913 Sewall Ave [shown above].
