Free Double feature screening of Wizard of Oz and Purple Rain
Friday night free movies at the Paramount Theatre will shift to Saturday this weekend, organizers said.
The originally slated Wizard of Oz screening will move to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, doors open at 6 p.m.
And in homage to Prince, Purple Rain will be screened at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, doors open at 9 p.m.
Presented in conjunction with the Asbury Park Film Initiative, the series gives audiences a chance to view the classics on a big screen. Founded in 2008 by Marilyn Schlossbach of Langosta Lounge and film publicist VJ Carbone, the Asbury Park Film Initiative is a nonprofit working to provide the city with film and art-related activities that promote culture, education & diversity.
Friday night free movies returns May 27th with the 8 p.m. screening of Across the Universe, doors open at 7:30 p.m.
No tickets are needed and the free film series features movie theater concession snacks and a cash bar for those age 21 and older.
Following the films, an after party, complete with light fare and music alternates between the Asbury Oyster Bar and Anchor’s Bend, both located within the Convention Hall complex, located at 1300 Ocean Ave.
