Fundraiser established for nine Seidle children
Gofundme campaign tops $19,000 in two days
A fundraiser to support the Seidle children was immediately established by family friends Ian Nugent, 21, and Brian Faber, 22, both of Neptune, following the tragic death of Tamara Seidle.
“We both just really wanted to make any kind of change and help out the family any way we could,” said Nugent, the best friend of Seidle’s eldest daughter Kirsten’s boyfriend.
The two established a GoFundMe campaign with the following message:
“A wonderful woman was invovled in a horrible tragedy today. Please donate to help the family in their time of need. All funds will be directly received by the Seidle children.”
The car chase, crash, shooting and death of Tamara Seidle [shown right] allegedly by her husband Phil, a Neptune Township police sergeant, occurred Tuesday afternoon in Asbury as their youngest child, a 7-year-old daughter sat in her father’s car.
Nugent said he’s known the family for seven years, having gone to high school with the Seidle’s eldest daughter and an older son.
“They were all roommates at Montclair and all just graduated last month,” Nugent’s mother Wendy said. “Ian is simply searching for a way to help and work through his own grief.”
On Wednesday night Kirsten Seidle thanked Nugent and Faber for starting the fund:
“I want to say thank you for all of the texts, private messages, phone calls, and wall posts from everyone,” she wrote on her Facebook page. “Even if I may not have answered you I received your messages and truly appreciate them. I am asking for privacy in this sensitive time for me and my loved ones. In my mother’s memory I ask for people to continue to leave positive loving messages…”
In the two days since the fund was created, 359 people have donated $19,300 of their $1 million goal.
The Seidles have 9 children ages 7 to 24, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.
